***DOUCHEBAG ALERT***
Mayor Alan Webber is now blaming Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham for the violence on the Plaza and the destruction of the Soldiers’ Monument!
Bwahahahahahha
Also beyond Webber’s control, according to his deposition, was the dispatching of a crane to the Santa Fe Plaza under the cover of darkness hours after the mayor announced he planned to call for obelisk’s removal, as well as a federal monument dedicated to Kit Carson and a city-owned statue of Spanish conquistador Don Diego de Vargas.
“It was done by state government,” Webber said.
“I learned about it after the fact when we got a report that there had been a crane on the Plaza,” he said. “They had checked it, or the workers had checked the top of the obelisk, the point of the obelisk, and they found it was very fragile. In fact I think a piece of it was removed from the obelisk.”

Comments on the New Mexican and Online:
- Maybe should have rethought his time management, before back shelving a project which was underway when he was elected. https://www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_news/plan-to-discuss-contentious-monuments-in-santa-fe-shelved/article_57994e03-87f5-53c5-8f71-1e47012d3278.html
- Webber has what I call convenient amnesia. He used that on me all the time. He thinks people aren’t on to him. We are.
- Once again, Weber demonstrates his ignorance of local issues. Why was he elected? When will we stop electing people who don’t understand local values? All they do is work to make Santa Fe like everyplace else.

- Restore as original. All peoples were savages….don’t take it as a singularity. Common sense people know this. Honor our veterans!
- So…an outsider becomes Mayor of Santa Fe (thanks to Rank Choice Voting) and ignores the advice of his fellow “progressive” Democrat Governor from a long time Hispanic family and chooses to remove a century-old historic monument dedicated to Union soldiers who fought against the Confederacy and slavery. Then despite being THE DEFINING ISSUE of his administration Alan Webber can’t remember key elements of this self inflicted fiasco? Either Webber is lying or he has severe dementia and should resign for health reasons.
- “I really don’t remember the details,” the mayor replied. A striking semblance of Webber falling into special counsel Robert Hur’s recent characterization of POTUS as being, “…an elderly man with a poor memory.” Hey, if it worked for him, it can work for me. Also, throwing MLG under the bus didn’t help him either. So many guesses and conjectures back in 2020 about what “could’ve” happened that, now seen years later, never happened and haven’t vindicated his callous disregard to protect historic landmarks from Antifa anarchists. In fact, quite the contrary. Actually encouraging it to happen. Sorry, Mr. Mayor, by allowing it to happen you abdicated your responsibility and need to resign. Kudos to
- Is the deposition transcript posted anywhere online?
- Does it address the decisions made during the weekend of the toppling?
- Were any other members of the Administration deposed? Kudos to Union Protectiva and our attorney. As a dues paying member, I’ve never been prouder of them.
- “She said it was unsolvable, and that I shouldn’t presume that I could take it upon myself to rectify hundreds of years of history that were hard to untangle,” Good advice. For once in my life, I agree with MLG. But as far as how the city handled the fiasco, it seems that by deploying enough police, the vandals as well as any self-proclaimed militia types could have been kept on an adequate leash. This whole thing was a failure of intelligence and a first class dumpster fire. Or worse, if you are a conspiracy theorist.
- Although the governor had initial hesitation, if Webber is to be believed, she ultimately supported and assisted him. The idea that the state supplied crane and operator were only there to test it’s structural integrity, is factually untrue. In addition to witnesses and the crane, there was also a large, heavy duty flatbed truck waiting to take it away. I have pictures of it that night. They under estimated how heavy it was and so the attempt failed. At that point they were not even aware that there is a time capsule inside. – I do not believe for one second Mayor Webber did not know about that attempt or that he didn’t order, or, at minimum ask for that to occur. – This whole thing has been a complete mess from day 1 with elected officials who had no idea what the Soldiers Monument is making calls based on miss-information and threats from local and outside hate groups, masquerading as largely indigenous (most of the protesters were from UNM/Alb and many don’t even live in New Mexico). In that same deposition, Webber could not answer basic questions about it’s history, like what year it was constructed. He didn’t even give it a try….not even a guess. – Think about it, the Mayor of Santa Fe wants to tear down a deeply meaningful and historical monument that ultimately celebrates the abolishment of slavery because of outdated language that is newly offensive. How about just update the language? – Webber also spoke of perhaps moving it to the National Cemetery but the monument will never survive the relocation process…..and he likely knows that. This will be his legacy: a well intended, white outsider that came to our town and tried to dictate to us what we should think of ourselves, our history and cultures…. then he attempted to destroy part of what makes us unique and those symbols. There are other things on the chopping block as well, as I’ve been saying for years on my channel.
- Webber tried to shift blame to the Gov and the violence taking down statues in Abq. Well look at cause and effect, the violence would not happen if the statues were left alone, the Obelisk would not have been toppled if Webber had not lit the fuse with 3SC and took down DeVargas. And the word “savages” was removed in the 70s, that excuse doesn’t work anymore either.
- “…that I shouldn’t presume that I could take it upon myself to rectify hundreds of years of history that were hard to untangle..” And otherwise, gosh, he can’t remember.
- Thank you Union Protectíva de Santa Fé, for exposing and showing the incompetence and bias of these kind of people.
- Yup, let it happen basically. Then all these out of state culture vulture, yuppie, hipster-weirdos took it upon themselves to deem things “racist” and destroy things, when they aren’t even from this state and are in fact the real racists. Tearing down their yoga studios would have been more for the cause to fight racism.
- So basically MLG told him to ignore laws and let vandals run wild. They are both cowards.
- Both Webber and MLG are cowards. Neither one is a leader.
