Sig Cares for John Blair Not Santa Fe
Please read this outstanding column by Milan Simonich in which he details the unethical and unprofessional behavior of Mayor Alan M. Webber and Councilor Signe Lindell in the consistently poor performance of City Manager John Blair.
Singe Lindell’s knack for speaking without thinking has thrust her into the spotlight once more. This time, she’s harassing fellow City Councilor Lee Garcia, for diligently carrying out his role as Councilor and representing the interests of his constituents. It’s a stark contrast to the incident a few years ago when she was drunk on the Plaza, slurring offensive remarks about those she deemed “smelly hippies.” Her latest attack may not involve alcohol, but it remains unwarranted.
Lindell’s blatant allegiance to Blair and Webber over the welfare of our city is truly disheartening. Her actions consistently favor their interests at the expense of the public. We need run her and the other Webber lackies out of town.
City Manager John Blair was hired because he is an outspoken gay advocate.
He was NOT hired because he was experienced or qualified for the job of City Manager. His hire was strictly a political move. Despite Blair’s unsatisfactory performance as City Manager, Both Webber and Lindell have defended him at every opportunity, to the detriment of our city and its residents. Ask yourself – if a straight Hispanic man had performed as poorly as John Blair, would Webber and Lindell defend him? I think not.
If a straight Hispanic man had performed as poorly as John Blair, both Webber and Lindell would likely attempt to lynch him!
Comments from the New Mexican:
- Thanks Milan. You are a asset to this paper and this city. Signe, from one who you look down your nose at (the smelly people on the plaza, those in the poorer districts), I say, you are a cancer on our city council and this city will be better off without you. That day can’t come soon enough.
- Signe lost her way a long time ago. And Blair’s troubles ARE of his own making and allowed/approved by the mayor. In case the mayor’s administration and the council are reading this, the majority of the citizens are sick and tired of the Webber way. Signe signed on with Webber and finds herself in the love of power and money and has failed not only her district but the whole city. Thank you Councilor Garcia for standing up to the bullies.
- Lindell forgot she represents the people of her district , not the corrupt Webber, Blair, Lindell club. Just like Agua Fria annex the people said No! but they represent Homewise instead in ignoring the will of the people. Her defense of Blair over the tax payer is just another case of special interest bias.
- Thank you, Milan! I look forward to your articles every week!
- Thank you. It is really sad when someone like Lindell loses her way. The audit failures are crucial, and the attempts to hide that are dereliction of office. She may be set to win, but she has lost my vote.
- Yes, this woman is but another of the incompetent and unqualified people running Santa Fe.
- Based on this account, I already know what lever I will NOT pull in the next election! Thank you, Milan!
- Signe is a real disappointment for her constituents in the Railyard and the Plaza. She has forgotten that her job is to represent the people in District 1 and instead plays cheerleader for Webber.
- Crime has skyrocketed under her watch and is a direct result of our city’s weak administration and failed policies that Lindell blindly supports, while ignoring the fallout for her constituents and our community. It’s no surprise that Lindell goes so low in her attacks on her peers since her performance as a councilor is rock bottom. She should do our community a favor and resign.

- A “public servant” who makes $174K a year in a job he was not remotely qualified for. Is that choice of phrase meant to be an attempt at humor? Anyone laughing yet? The truth is the letter from the state was due to the City’s ongoing inability to produce timely audits even after repeated attempts to do so. Blair’s withholding of the letter was a calculated move to spare the administration any more embarrassment over their inability to manage or account for City finances.
- Time will tell if Santa Fean’s can put their big kid pants on and vote against party line bias to oust this corruption and outright neglect of duty to the population by the current cast of characters. Judging from the last missed opportunity (re: Webber Mayor Vote) I’m guessing No. Real shame cause when I take a pulse on how well the citizens think they are doing it seems low but yet they keep winning.
- The “facts” as I’ve been able to determine so far: (1) The City is behind on submitting audits (2) The failure to submit these audits has resulted in a letter from the State that Public Works money is being withheld (3) The City Manager attempted to keep this letter from the City Council (4) The City Manager was appointed by the Mayor without a job search for an experienced/qualified candidate. From what I can tell, our current City Manager has no prior experience qualifying him for his position. (5) Lee Garcia has expressed concern for the City Manager’s job performance to date & is pushing for action by the City Council (6) The situation appears to be devolving into “he said/she said” accusations by Council members. What do I think? I think we need to get our audits in ASAP. I don’t believe there is any “bullying” going on & that Mr. Blair’s job performance to date should be evaluated. For the record: I am not a Republican.
- Sig and Geno Zamora are two of a kind–neither wants public concerns and issues (late audits; lack of integrity; lack of zoning enforcement) made public. As far at they are concerned, it is better to sweep it under the rug so it will look like there is no dysfunction at city hall. If you have been observing, council members whine and offer rhetoric but other than LEE Garcia there has been no action to cure the problem in the administration which is beyond unethical.
- Does anyone really think that Blair made the decision to withhold all on his own? There is no one in the chain of command between him and Webber, and there seems no logic in him also withholding from his boss. If Webber was not in on the decision, he needs to clearly state such. If he was in on the decision, then this is like when Captain Matt Champlin took a hit for Team Webber two weeks before the last Mayoral election, and took full responsibility for surrendering the Plaza to thugs toppling the Obelisk. A couple of months later Champlin was promoted to Deputy Chief, but there doesn’t seem a way to reward Blair with a promotion. In the upcoming Council election voters need to make clear they are tired of Team Webber’s governing based on the whims of their leader.
- Blair is not there to run a city (pretty obvious). He’s there to promote an ideology.
- This article shows the corruption currently in City Hall. How can the city attorney call out one councilor for bullying but then allow others to bully Councilor Garcia for making the city Manager accountable for not doing his job? How can we as constituents allow this to happen? How can city hall allow another councilor to bully another councilor? Councilor Garcia is just doing what his job requires, making city hall accountable. Councilor Garcia has stood for the people and that’s what we need in City Hall. This is why my opponent Jamie didn’t want to give the mayor, a grade or city council a grade for their work. A majority of the council is sticking together and is not worried about the constituents anymore, this is why we need people to vote! Let’s make the change Santa Fe needs and vote out the corrupt! Please vote this election! November 7, 2023 – Joel Nava City Council Candidate

- I applaud Lee Garcia for standing up for common sense, in spite of upsetting some of the other council members. Blair could choke an old lady out in the street and Webber and Lindell would still make excuses for him because if he fails, they look bad because they by-passed common sense standards for a city manager to hire him. They seem to have hired him for his outspoken sexual preferences rather than his qualifications. – Even if he is not reviewed or fired over these things, we see what’s going on. Lindell is giving away gifts in advance to any future opponent she may run against.
- As the world turns at the City of Fanta Se. The Clown Show continues to prove it still can’t put out an honest audit years later? They need to bite the bullet and turn in the information to show how dysfunctional the city really is. Along with that the city clowncil needs 2 terms limits and your done. Start with Lindell.
