A local contractor sent the attached photos to us this weekend. The contractor also sent the following message which I am listing below in quotes.
I think the contractor makes a number of valid points. We do want to point out that the fault for a lot of these issues falls with management at the Director level. With Shannon Jones, Jesse Roach and Mike Dozier. If they had managed repair and replacement of infrastructure, these issues would not be happening. If they had enough staff to handle issues and paid them well enough, then the every day workers wouldn’t be so exhausted that they potentially make mistakes.
“I get it. Water lines break especially really old ones but when us contractors perform a street cut if we don’t have site secure we get in trouble from streets division and possibly fined.”
“ What I don’t understand is why utility infrastructure isn’t top priority of the city… gas company and pnm are doing replacements all over the city but waste water and water division wait till waters coming out of the ground. I wonder how much water could have been saved if Shannon (Jones) and Jesse (Roach) were actually doing their job!”
“ We know for a fact that cabra also has a 50 yr + clay sewer main that should also be replaced but they will just wait till its an emergency. I don’t think they understand the meaning of proactive!!”
