Via Jay Baker: Under the gross mismanagement of Mayor Alan Webber, City Manager John Blair, Assistant City Manager Layla Archuleta Maestas, City Attorney Erin McSherry, and the Council of Flying Monkeys—Carol Romero-Wirth, Sig Lindel, Jamie Cassutt, Amanda Chavez, Pilar Faulkner, and Alma Castro—the CITY OF SANTA FE IS CURRENTLY FACING 33 ACTIVE LAWSUITS! This revelation comes in the aftermath of Traveler’s Insurance dropping coverage for the City of Santa Fe.
The lawsuits primarily result from the City’s violating residents’ civil rights, numerous cases of injuries caused by the City’s deteriorating infrastructure, and, regrettably, wrongful deaths due to a lack of oversight from Mayor Webber.
In stark contrast, the City of Albuquerque, with a population of 800,000, has 31 active lawsuits pending against it. Consider this: the City of Santa Fe, with a population of 80,000, surpasses the City of Albuquerque in active lawsuits by two, despite being only a fraction of its size!

- “Claire Romero received $1,400 to help pay for medical bills for her family’s dog, Mila. In a 2021 lawsuit, Romero alleged an unsecured steel bollard at the entrance of Cielo Vista Park fell on one of the dog’s paws, fracturing a toe.” 😂😂😂 On another note, thank you Michelle Williams for blowing the whistle. It could not have been easy 💛 you go, girl.
- I don’t blame Traveler’s Insurance one bit. They have to assess risk and mitigate their losses. And I can assure you, they are fully aware of just how grossly incompetent the Webber Administration is. I’m sure that played a major role in their decision to drop the city. About the only surprising thing in this article is that we didn’t pay more out in settlements. That’s a major silver lining. Especially when you consider just how poorly our city is run.
- We only are advised of certain settlements. How many are pending? They only provided info on eight lawsuits. You know, as Blair says, keep info close to the chest. I’d venture to Stay tuned for more to surface.
- Whew. At first I thought Travelers was pulling out of residential coverage!
- Lousy government costs the public, eventually. Maybe if the financial burden was publicized, people would pay attention. I recall when three cops up in Los Alamos sued the pants off the county, people noticed. I was particularly peeved as I knew Randy Foster pretty well and had followed his rise up the ranks. These were all good cops.
- “City staff are also assessing what we can proactively do to improve City operations, prioritize capital improvements — basically anything strategic to reduce the number of claims” Suggestion: Follow the law. Respond to public records requests in a timely manner. Fix the sidewalks and streets. Stop retaliatory actions towards staff. Be transparent. In other words, do what a City is supposed to do.
- Wow and the clown car goes and goes! Where is the transparency? City Council? Even if they find someone to insure the city, there definitely will be a big premium for the high risk Santa Fe has become! We hear of settled lawsuit payouts, but not all! one million paid to a family of an arrested man dying in police care and custody! Not giving medical attention! What we haven’t heard in any of these payouts is any accountability! No heads have rolled! Murphys law, keep doing the same thing over and over: your going to get the same result! City council do your job, clean up city hall! Start with Blair
- Imagine that 🤔 Way to go Mayor Webber….. Good job 🤬
- It looks like the largest amounts were avoidable.
- We can excuse those of you that voted Webber into office the first time, but when you gave him another term… Inexcusable.
- Step electing liberal Democrat Socialists and leftists who, after they are elected, run cities into the ground.
- No wonder that Travelers Insurance is dropping coverage for the city.
- Write a check Carte Blanc such a disregard for the public.
